What is 5th Wheel Towing Capacity of 2018 Ram 2500 Diesel Short Bed 4x4

Question:

Perhaps I wasn’t clear enough. If my payload is 2380 lbs does this mean the RV pin weight + hitch in the truck bed + truck cargo + passengers cannot exceed 2380 lbs? Most mid-sized 5ers I’m looking at the pin weight alone is 2,000 lbs plus! Cannot believe the payload in the Ram 2500 is not higher.

I found the Ram trucks towing guide and put in the info you listed and the fifth wheel towing capacity is 17,280 lbs.

If you have the fifth wheel towing package the B and W Slider Companion part # BWRVK3670 would be exactly what you'd want as it has more capacity than needed, fits directly to your rail kit, and gives you the best all around hitch available. I attached a review video for more info on it as well.

So payload is different from pin weight capacity as payload is the capacity associated with the bed of the truck which is made of sheet metal and the pin weight capacity is different as the fifth wheel hitch does not use the truck bed for support and instead bolts directly to the truck's frame. This is why your pin weight capacity would be higher than the payload capacity you listed.
