The etrailer Trao;er Hitch Receiver #e98865 has a maximum tongue weight of 400-lbs when used with a weight distribution system and 350-lbs without a weight distribution system. The gross trailer weight is 4000-lbs when used with a weight distribution system and 3,500 when used without.
The towing capacity for your 2017 Chevy Equinox varies depending on your engine size. The 2.4L engine is rated to tow up to 1500-lbs. The 3.6L engine is rated to tow up to 3500-lbs according to the Chevy website. While I cannot locate information on the specific tongue weight capacity for this vehicle it is typically 10-15% of the maximum towing capacity for the vehicle. Keep in mind that vehicles are limited by their lowest rated component, in this case being the vehicle itself. Regardless of the tongue weight of your hitch, you will be limited to the 150-lb OR 350-lb tongue weight capacity for the 2017 Chevy Equinox.
If you are planning on towing I also recommend the Curt # C56210 wiring kit if your Equinox is equipped with the factory tow package. If your vehicle did not come with a factory tow package installed you need the Curt # 56094 in order to connect the lights on your trailer to the vehicle. I've also linked an article about how to decide which ball mount to choose for this hitch.
