I took a look at an online version of the owner's manual of your 2013 GMC Terrain and on page 10-71 it states that "front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive vehicles may be dinghy towed from the front" which means you can flat tow your '13 Terrain with front-wheel drive. I recommend verifying this in your copy of the owner's manual and also going over the steps you need to take in order to do this.
There are a number of parts needed in order to flat tow your 2013 GMC Terrain, which I'll list for you:
- Base Plate Kit: Demco Classic Base Plate Kit # DM9518262
- Tow Bar: Demco Excali-Bar III Non-Binding Tow Bar # DM9511013
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25
- Fuse Bypass Switch # RM-76517 (4-cylinder models)
OR
- Fuse Bypass Switch # RM76511 (V6 models)
- Supplemental Braking System: Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700
- Stop Light Switch Kit - Chevrolet Equinox / GMC Terrain # RM-751439
The Demco Classic Base Plates give your car a clean look, and the compatible Excali-Bar tow bar is a great option because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, along with integrated safety cables and an adjustable tilting head so a high-low adapter won't be needed. Having these features on a tow bar means you won't have to purchase them separately, saving you additional expenses.
The Flexo-Coil wiring kit is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback to keep your Terrain's electrical system safe, and the InvisiBrake supplemental braking system is strongly recommended because it not only gives you effective braking, but is a one-time install which will never require any type of removal or reactivation.
Additionally, I have added links to instruction manuals, video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
