Question:

I have a moonroof on my 2015 Ford Escape, but no side rails or racks front to back or side to side - just a naked roof, with a moonroof. Will this work or can you recommend an alt?

Yes, the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier # MPG152 can be used on the naked roof of the 2015 Ford Escape with moonroof as long as you do not put the foam block directly on the glass. If your moonroof is small enough to where you can place the blocks on either side of it and the kayak does not touch the glass you are good to go. It includes the straps and tie-downs to ensure that your kayak stays in place during transport.

If the sunroof does not allow for proper placement of the foam blocks then you will need to add crossbars on the Escape so the weight of the kayaks are not on the moonroof at all. I recommend the Rhino-Rack ROC25 Roof Rack for Naked Roofs # RR49QR. Then, you can still use the Malone Deluxe Kayak Carrier # MPG152 on the bars.

You could also use a J-style carrier etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs part # e98878 on the bars which would be a more secure option then the foam blocks especially if you are traveling far distances with your kayaks. Foam blocks can be susceptible to wear and tear over a short period of time and J-style kayak carriers like the above one last longer.

You may want to check the roof capacity of the vehicle in your owner's manual to be safe because some roofs that include moon roofs have a lower capacity.
