Question:
RAM 2500. how do you hook up a brake control in place of the factory one

Expert Reply:
Installing a brake controller in place of the factory controller in your 2014 Ram 2500 really depends on the controller you want to install.
For example, if you use the fantastic Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 you only need to plug it into your 7-way and you're done - the controller is ready to use and your factory controller will no longer be responsive. All you need with the Echo is a smartphone; just download its app to set up the brake controller and that's it.
Otherwise, for a wired controller such as the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller # C24VV, since you have a factory 7-way you only need the Custom Wiring Adapter for Trailer Brake Controllers # C51453 but before you can plug it in you would need to take your truck to your local dealer and have them disconnect your factory brake controller, as you can see by the linked help article I added for you.
I also attached a link to video reviews for you to take a look at.
