Question:
Can I replace my 3500 lb axles 5 on 5 with 5200 axles and use the olds hubs off of the 3500 stock axles?

Expert Reply:
The hubs from your 3500-lb axles could theoretically be re-used on a different axle IF both axles have the same spindles that use the same bearings, but this is unlikely. Typically 3500-lb axles accept hubs that use bearings # L68149 and # L44649 while 5200-lb axles most often use bearings # 25580 and # LM67048. Even if it were the case that the two axles used the same spindles (again, very unlikely) then using the 3500-lb hubs on the 5200-lb axle would mean you gained no weight capacity since the hubs then become the limited factor.
All of our 5-on-5 hubs, shown on the linked page, are rated for 3500-lb axles.
We do offer 5200-lb axle kits like Dexter # 6340624-EB that includes electric brakes, hub/drums, bearings, races, seals, and mounting hardware but none are offered with 5-on-5 hubs.
