Can the Curt Friction Style Sway Control Bar be Used on the Left or Right Side of a Trailer
Updated 01/17/2012 | Published 01/15/2012 >
Question:
When installing the Curt 17200, is there a left and right configuration? I would like to put two of them on. But, they look like they are only configured for right side application. Can I just turn the slide upside down?

You can use the Curt friction style sway control, # 17200 on the left or right side. You will need to loosen the handle and the other bolt below it, pull the inside arm out, flip it over, then reinsert it. You will then need to unscrew the handle on top and the nut. Completely remove them both and the mounting plate.
Then rotate the plate 180 degrees and put the handle where the nut was and the nut where the handle was. Then, when you flip the unit over to use on the other side of the trailer, everything will be oriented correctly. Take a look at the question and answer I have linked. It includes a video that demonstrates how to perform this process.
