Question:

This box says it is extended but nowhere can I find how much longer or how much it moves the pin.

The extended notation you have mentioned for the Lippert 1621 5th Wheel Pin Box part # LC1387883 is in regards to the style. This is also know as the "long" style and there are several other pin boxes with this style that have similar dimensions but they are not designed to move the king pin.

If you take a look at the attached photo and help article that should then make things a bit more clear. The only way this extended/long style will move the kingpin further out is if you were using it in place of a medium or short style which is not recommended. In order to obtain additional clearance from a pin box would need to go with a rotating option, part # RP61422 for 16K or part # RP34FR for 20K.

Hello, We recently bought a camper, and it has what we were told a Lippert 1621 pin box on it. From the picture on the site here it looks like it's a medium style pin box. Has 10 bolts on each side. We are needing to switch out our pin box to a long pin box. Is that possible?? Our current hitch in the truck is a sliding hitch because we have a 5.5' bed and it sits lower in the bed of the truck so the hitch and bin box do not meet before the camper hits the bed rails of the truck. Having a longer pin box will help it meet the hitch in the truck. We have looked at the hitch rails that bump that up 3" and have moved the pin box down as far as it can go but still need more length. Can someone help us?? Thanks Ashley Nelson
