Can Replacement Shackle Bolt Have Longer Thread Length
Question:
I ordered 6 of these bolts 3inch x 9/16inch with locking nut to replace my old shackle/eye bolts along with my leaf springs, but when they came today I immediately noticed the thread length is noticeably longer than what is pictured as well as my old bolts. The overall length of the bolt is correct but it has much longer threading. All 6 of these bolts arrived with a thread length of about 7/8inch instead of the 5/8inch thread length of my old bolts as well as what appears to be pictured in the product image shorter than what I got. Im afraid when I go to install the new shackle bolts, the outside shackle is going to be riding on the bolt threading instead of the bolt shaft which will cause it to wear out much faster and unevenly. Please advise.. Thanks!

I do understand your concern with the potential of a slightly longer thread length on the Shackle Bolt # 166081 causing the shackle strap to sit right on the threads. The fact is though that the shackle positioned there as opposed to the unthreaded shank is not going to cause much of a difference, if any. The shackle straps should not wear down any quicker because of this.
As long as the bolt's overall length is correct then this will work perfectly for your trailer.
