How to Upgrade the Reese 12K Strait-Line to Reese 17K Strait-Line Weight Distribution System

Question:
I currently have the Reese Strait Line RP66084, and I am wondering if I can upgrade the weight capacity by simply upgrading the trunnions and shank to the 17,000.

Yes, you can upgrade the Reese Strait-Line 12K Weight Distribution System part # RP66084 to the Reese Strait-Line 17K Weight Distribution System part # RP66075 by replacing the spring bars with the Reese Replacement Trunnion Spring Bar, 1,700 lbs part # 66010 (2) and shank with either the Reese Weight Distribution Shank part # RP54976 or part # RP54977.
