Hi Sirs: I want to install a trailer hitch mounted bike rack on my 2018 Mini Countryman JCW. Ive done my research and find that the Curt C11522 fits the bill. What cradle mounted bike rack would you recommend thatll allow me to open the tailgate with the bikes on the rack?

I can help you find a bike rack to fit the Class I Curt Hitch part # C11522 on the 2018 Mini Countryman JCW. You can only carry 2 bikes at a time on a Class I hitch because they have a lower tongue weight rating. The Curt Hitch for your vehicle can handle up to 200 lbs. I checked with Curt and this hitch does fit the JWC model.

We do not have any cradle mounted hanging bike racks that fit a Class I hitch that allow you to tilt the bike rack away for rear cargo access with the bikes still on the rack, so I think a platform rack works best in your situation. I recommend the Curt 2 Bike Platform part # C18085 for the Class I hitch. I have attached a video that shows how it tilts for rear cargo access on a van with a hatchback. The shank of the bike rack is also designed to a rise to help with low ground clearance situations in the Countryman. I like the Curt because of the tilting feature and it comes with an anti-rattle hitch pin and locks to secure the bikes.
