Question:
Hi was looking to get a carrier rack for a dual sport bike.. TW200 yamaha.. it has wider tires than a typical enduro.. and it is 300 lbs around. I have a 2007 single cab tacoma 2.7L 4x4.. with a topper. IT has the ball threaded part for a ball hitch.. but the bike carriers are square receiver hitches, and know those have a close dead weight of 500 lbs.. mounted to the bumper only?? smaller section with square 2 inch hitch that bolts only to small center section on bumper only.. around 50-60.00 I have seen and wider ones that mount to the frame! 115-125.00 can you suggest a bike carrier and hitch set up that would work well? for my wider tire tw200 and 300/350 lb weight. will not be towing any large trailers, but additional information on your choice if I am able to tow an smaller flat trailer or small camping light trailers would be helpful as well..

The best way for you to carry your motorcycle on your 2007 Toyota Tacoma is by installing the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13323, which has a 500 lb tongue weight capacity, meaning the most your bike carrier and Yamaha TW200 can weigh is 500 lbs. I have added a link to a video showing this hitch being installed on an '07 Tacoma.
For a motorcycle carrier the best option we have that could work for you is the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier # e98873 which weighs approximately 58 lbs and has a 500 lb capacity which is enough for your 300 lb - 350 lb bike.
In regards to if you can tow a smaller trailer I took a look at an online version of an owner's manual for a 2007 Toyota Tacoma and found that it has a 3,500 lb towing capacity if you do not have the towing package or a 6,500 lb towing capacity if you do have the towing package. Either way, this should be enough for you to tow a small camper or flat trailer.
To do this you will need to add a wiring harness to power your trailer's lights, and the Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118496 is the best option because it is the most reliable harness for your truck. I have added a link to a video install of this harness being installed on an '07 Tacoma for you to take a look at.
I also recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900, which is for 2” hitches and may fulfill your towing needs in one tidy package; two ball mounts - one with a 3/4” rise or 2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise or 4” drop – along with a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip.
You can use the link to the help article on ball mounts I've added to determine if this kit will give you the correct amount of drop or rise.
