Question:

Jameson, not trying to shim theAZ-325, shiming the AM -800 handle so that it would stick out and don’t hit theAZ- 325 door opener.

Sounds like you are looking for a way to have two handles on your RV. One further out to help with the lower steps and one closer to the body which helps more on the higher steps. For that the best option would be the Lend-A-Hand part # AM-800 which has a distance of 19-1/4 inches between the mounting brackets and then the Soft Touch Assist Handle # AH-150 mounted between those brackets as it has an overall length of 18-1/2 inches. This would be a much better solution than trying to shim the AM-800 past a longer handle.
