Where is the Tail Light Wiring on a 2006 Cadillac SRX to Install a Trailer Wiring Harness

Question:
How in the world do you connect up trailer wiring on a 2006 Cadilac SRX?? I removed the side panels in the rear cargo area trying to find rear wiring but can not reach it. It looks like I would have to take apart the entire rear panels to do this. Can not be. What am I missing????

Probably the easiest way to get to the wires to install the trailer wiring harness # C59496 is to pretend as if you were going to have to change out a tail light bulb (or LED panels or bulbs). There is a process to follow to access them.
If you do this, it will inevitably show you where the wiring is for the tail light functions. Then use the circuit tester to probe the wires to make the connections. On some vehicles, you actually have to remove the tail light assemblies on the vehicle to gain access to the wiring.
From what I could find, you should only have to remove the interior trim panels around the tail lights and the wiring should be right there behind the panel. Removing the nuts that hold it on and the electrical connector at the back of will allow you to remove the assembly from the vehicle.
