Leaf Spring Recommendation for 2014 Columbus 5th Wheel with 6k Trailer Axles

Question:

I have a 2014 Columbus 5th wheel. 38’ long. Weighs 11200dry. The original springs lasted 5 years and a lot of miles. Measured 251/4” long 13/4” wide. 4 leafs. 3” 6000 lbI axles. bought 4 springs and broke them in 2000 miles. I quess they weren’t the same. How do you rate springs. Someone suggested P5 spring. Any ideas. Thanks.

Picking out springs for a trailer is based on basically two things. The axle capacity of the trailer and the length/width. Since you provided all of that info we can easily help you figure out what you need.

So dimensionally old springs tend to stretch a bit as they wear out so going with a spring that is slightly shorter than 25-1/4 inch would be what you'd need. For that the spring I'd recommend is the part # e54SR. This is a 6k spring that measures 25-1/8 inches in length, and is 1-3/4 inches wide. This spring is rated properly, is the same width you need and is 1/8 of an inch shorter than what you measured which will be just right.
