Looks great and probably very much functional, but I only received one of the equalizers rather than the pair. Emailed etrailer for the second one and waiting on response. Hopefully I get it promptly because I have a time slot budgeted out next weekend to work on this trailer.

UPDATED REVIEW: eTrailer is get me the missing equalizer and they were easy to work with. Appreciate that. These are installed on a horse trailer and it definitely smooths the ride out to almost air ride like. When traversing thru potholes or over speed bumps, the axles articulate like a centipede crawling over and dont even hardly notice the trailer bounce. 5 stars for the ride quality! Unfortunately, durability wise, only 2, maybe 3 stars at best. We sue this trailer on a daily basis and they are already worn out after 6 months, even with them being greaseable. I have been having continuing problems with the wet bolts plugging up see my review on the Lippert wet bolt shackle kit and the pivot bushing wore itself into the equalizer housing. I had to weld and re-bore this hole just to replace the bushing I didnt have time to wait for replacements, the trailer had to get back on the road right away. The bushings in the lower flex arms are worn out as well. I am meticulous on maintenance and have tried everything to help these last but in the end, spending $450+ every 6 months to keep replacing these is not sustainable. The root cause I believe to this problem is the leverage the axles have on upper pivot when making turns. I do not know how to avoid this as it is simply a matter of where the shackles are mounted in relation to where the pivot is. I will probably be looking at an air ride conversion ultimately, but in the meantime, I will be ordering another set of these along with the wet bolts and see how long I can make it.

@ChadC What is the capacity of your axles?

@Mike L - they are 7000 lb axles. Trailer is rarely over 10k lbs gross loaded.

by:

Still waiting for the equalizers to arrive, wet bolts delivered yesterday.

by:

We went on a cross country trip right after I installed the new equalizers and I will say that the towing was smoother, softer with less jarring especially over RR tracks and uneven bumpy pavement.

by:

Very easy to assemble

by:

Wow! Trailer rides a lot smoother, between new leaf springs and the new equalizers the trailer rides better than it did when new.

by:

Direct replacement for existing Equa Flex suspension component. The original didn’t last long (5000 miles) but a replacement with the greasable pivots and replacement to beefier stock linkages should help. Time will tell. Installation easy enough - did it at the RV park with some wood blocks, 8 ton jack and hand tools. Not an excellent review because I’m a bit disappointed the original didn’t last long.

by:

As much as I paid for these, the mounting hardware should have been included instead of having to order a hardware kit costing an extra $XXX. If I didn’t need these so bad I’d return them.

by:

Went together like it was supposed to, step up from previous equals flex equalizers.

  • Option to Replace Equa-Flex Equalizers on Grand Design Reflection
I could not find any reference to part 435251, though we can help you find the correct replacement for the Equa-Flex on your Grand Design Reflection. To find the right one you need to measure your equalizer from center hole to center hole horizontally and its height from the middle center hole to the top hole. For example, the Road Armor Shock Absorbing Equalizer Kit # LC696740 is 6" from center to center of its bolt holes, and 3-1/4" tall. Then the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC145546...

  • Comparing Lippert Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 and # LC145546
The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC145546 that includes the 4 wet bolts has greaseable pivot points. This means you can replace the lower bolts that hold the pivot arms in place and replace them with the 4 wet bolts. This kit is rated for 5,000lb to 8,000lb trailer applications. The Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC279688 does not have greaseable pivot points and is rated for 6,000lb to 8,000lb trailer applications. Beyond those differences these are the same size with a 4" bolt...

  • What Shackles Do You Recommend For My Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers, Part # LC279688
Hello Leonard. Since you are going with a slightly bigger equalizer, the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers - Double Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 6K to 8K, part # LC145546, you will go with a smaller shackle strap. The MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers w Correct Track - 2-1/4" Shackle Straps, part # MR58ZR, is my recommendation. This change will minimally affect the height of your toy hauler, if they affect it at all. I have included a product description link and video...

  • Recommended Shackle Bolt and Equa-Flex Upgrade Kit for a 2018 Keystone Carbon 347
Hey Rick, it looks like your 2018 Keystone Carbon TT Toy Hauler has tandem 6k axles which would mean that the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC145546 is the correct kit. As far as shackles go, you'd need to measure your current shackle and pick a kit that matches. So for instance, if you measured 3 1/8" long, then the Lippert Tandem Axle Equa-Flex AP Kit # LC64FR is what you'd need. If your shackle bolts measure something different, let me know what that is and I'll see what we have.

I wasn't able to find any specific information on your 2015 AML Auto Hauler open trailer with tandem 5,200 lbs axles current suspensions. There isn't a database I can look at and tell you exactly what part number you will need. The Lippert Tandem Axle Equa-Flex AP Kit - Wet Bolts - 3-1/8" Long Shackles item # LC64FR are a great option and work with 3,000 lbs - 8,000 lbs equalizers. Personally Russ, if you are planning to keep your 2018 Grand Design Momentum 351M toy hauler and want to benefit from a better ride then upgrading to the Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit # RM-2460-2570 makes the most sense. If you choose to keep the Equa-Flex # LC145546 system you can go with the heavier springs but just know that it will likely wear the equalizer even faster since the springs will not flex as much under the weight. I recommend going with the AllTrek 4000 Equalizers # MR29DR since you are replacing your suspension components. This is a superior equalizer to the Equa-flex # LC145546 style you are using. The difference between the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers # LC145546 and the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers 279688 is that # LC145546 can also work with 5K axles and has a greaseable pivot for easy lubrication, whereas 279688 can only work with 6K - 8K axles and does not have a greaseable pivot. The wet bolts on the Momentum were most likely not serviced properly from the dealer/owner of the camper is my guess. Hello George, thanks for reaching out. When replacing equalizers and shackles, it is critical that the replacement parts are identical in size to the stock components. There is a small amount of tolerance, like maybe 1/2" or less, but any difference more than this can throw the suspension off and cause things to go out of alignment. Also, the axle spacing is not the best thing to use for selecting an equalizer. The best way is to go strictly off the dimensions of the current equalizer....
