Brake Controller Connection Port on Coachmen Class C Motorhome Based on 2010 Ford E-450 Chassis

Published 03/01/2019

Question:

I have a Coachmen Freelander QB 21 Class C motorhome built on a 2010 Ford e-450 Chassis. It has a 7-pin connector at the back bumper that has the blue wire which I think is for the Electric brakes on a towed trailer. Can I infer that this has a trailer tow package? If so where do I find the connector under or behind the dash to which I would hook a brake controller? I think an OEM brake controller installs in the dash where there is currently just a cubby hole. Is that correct?

Expert Reply:

If your Ford E-450-based Class C motorhome has a factory 7-way connector with a blue brake circuit wire then there should indeed be a brake controller connection port to allow plug-and-play installation of a controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 that will use the part you referenced, harness # 3034-P.

If you refer to the linked photo you'll see the spot on the dash behind which the connector is typically found. The mating gray connector you'll look for will be similar in size and shape to the one shown in the other photo. No other wiring connections are needed.
