Recommended Tire Chains for 2017 Toyota Tundra with 275/65R18 Tires

Question:

I have a 2017 5.7 V8 4WD Tundra, the truck and michellin tires are suitable for most conditions we see here in Michigan. However, we have been having significant ice on back dirt roadsand ice is ice. As a measure of security I have been considering getting tire chains for such a situation. I was thinking drape on, that way if the truck accidentally slides off the road before the chains are on it could be used to give extra traction in a pinch. Something not horribly hard or complicated to put on, theyd maybe get used once a season, something I figure that would be good to have on hand for those trips up north when weather can get nasty quick. My tires are 275/65/18, what would you suggest?

Helpful Expert Reply:

For your 275/65-18 tires I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC2327. These chains will work well for snow and ice to increase your traction. The square links are made of strong manganese nickel alloy steel for durability and corrosion resistance and the chains have the diamond pattern for a smoother ride. They are simple drape over style as you mentioned with built in tensioner.

These chains are Class S compatible for minimal internal clearances. They only require 1.46 inches between the top of the tire and the wheel well and 0.59 inch between the tire inner sidewall and the truck itself. These will help you on the back roads or the main roads as needed even if that is only once a season.
