Base Plate and Flat Tow Parts for 2014 Hyundai Accent with Manual Transmission

Updated 01/29/2019 | Published 01/28/2019

Question:

Hi, I have a 2014 Hyundai Accent , manual transmission. When I plug that vehicle into your web page this is the base plate number that comes up. However, it says above the order tab Not confirmed to fit 2014 Hyundai Accent. Obviously that is worrisome. Can you tell me if this is the correct base plate for that vehicle. Thank you.

I checked with Roadmaster and the correct fit for base plates on your 2014 Hyundai Accent with a manual transmission is the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 521634-1. The base plate kit you referenced only fits later model year Accents.

In addition to base plates there are a number of other parts you will need to safely flat tow your '14 Accent, which I'll list for you.

- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522
- Safety Chains: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables # RM-643
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700
- Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400

The Falcon tow bar is a great option because it is non-binding and has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing. The wiring kit is designed to effectively prevent electrical feedback to keep your Accent's electrical system safe, and the InvisiBrake supplemental braking system is highly recommended because it is a one-time install which you can leave in so you'll never have to deactivate or reactivate it. You will need the Brake-Lite Relay in order to prevent your Hyundai's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from your RV when applying the brakes during a turn.

It is also likely you will need a high-low adapter such as # RM-048-8 to keep your tow bar level with your tow vehicle. The adapter you need is going to depend on some measurements you'll need to take. I have added a link to a help article on high-low adapters which explains the measurements you'll need, as well as a link to our page with our selection of adapters.

I have also added links to video reviews and installations for you to take a look at.
