The 2018 Cougar 310RLS has a tapered nose with Max Turn Technology so a sliding hitch will likely not be necessary; you still need to be careful and watch the cab before making sharp turns, but this trailer is designed in a manner that you can use a fixed hitch.

For your 2018 Ram 2500 with the factory prep package I strongly recommend the B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 because it is considered by many to be the highest-quality fifth wheel hitch available. If your '18 Ram 2500 does NOT have the factory prep package you will need the B&W Companion # BWRVK3500-5W with Custom Underbed Installation Kit # BWGNRK1384-5W (please keep in mind if you do NOT have the factory prep package the Companion is not compatible with extended pin boxes such as a Sidewinder or Revolution).

With around 500 reviews to date from our customers who have purchased it, this hitch has received a nearly unanimous 5-star rating. One of the reasons for that is the jaw system on the Companion; its dual jaws are a full 1" thick to provide complete contact with your king pin so you can have faith that your connection is absolutely secure. I've added a picture of the jaws so you can see for yourself how impressive they are.

The Companion is also going to give you a much quieter ride with less rattling than other fifth wheels due to that secure connection, along with its polyurethane bushings. This hitch also has a pivoting head to make hooking up easier, a cam-action latch to deter binding and offers three different height settings to ensure you are level with your fifth wheel.

I have added links to video reviews and installs of these parts for you to check out as well.
