Internal Height Dimension of the Thule Motion XT Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box from Top of Base Ridge

Question:

Hey team, I appreciate all of your videos- theyre very informative and well thought out. Id like to buy the Thule Motion XT Alpine for my Subaru, but Im Im not sure if some of our bags will fit. Specifically, we have 3 pieces of 24x15x10inch carry-on luggage that Id like to store in the carrier. The specs on Thules website for the carrier say 11.25inch of interior height... which should work for us, but its tough to tell if the 11.25inch is actual interior clearance for gear or if that dimension is taken from the bottom of the ridges at the base of the carrier so maybe its 11.25inch less minus an inch or so. Its a really close fit. Id go with the Thule Motion XT XL, but the head height of my garage door doesnt afford me that luxury. I called Thule and they couldnt answer my question. I dont have a Thule dealer in my town Id go hit them up. Any help would be appreciated. I included a quick sketch for reference. Thanks!

For the Thule Motion XT Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box - 16 cu ft - Black # TH629706 the interior dimensions are 84-1/2" long x 33" wide x 11-1/4" tall. Since the height appears to be an issue for garage door clearance, the distance from the top of your crossbar to the top of the box is 12-1/4 inches.

I was able to confirm the interior height of 11-1/4 inches is from the bottom of the ridge on the underside, so from the top of the ridge the measurement is 10-3/4 inches. So you will have 3/4 inches of clearance with your 10 inch tall luggage using that box.
