Question:
Okay. I have a new 2018 Toyota Highlander and wanting to do a hitch but also trying to pin down the towing capacity of this vehicle. Can you help? Also do you have a good recommendation for a backup camera? Thank you!

I took a look at the online version of the owner's manual for your 2018 Toyota Highlander and found that if you have the 2.7L engine it can pull a trailer that weighs up to 1,500 pounds. If you have the larger 3.5L engine the Highlander has a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds.
For a trailer hitch that will work great I recommend the Curt Class 3 Rround Tube Trailer Hitch # C13200 because it has great capacities(more than you will need), and can be used with a weight distribution system. It features a 6,000 pound towing capacity to meet your vehicle's limits and it will install using existing holes in the Highlander's frame for a no-drill installation.
I have attached an installation video on the 2018 model Highlander that you can also use for reference.
Since you will be doing some towing you will also need a trailer wiring harness. I recommend the Tekonsha T-One # 118449 if your Highlander doesn't have the factory tow package or the Hopkins # HM11141825 if you do have the tow package. Either harness will plug into factory ports on the Highlander for a plug-and-play installation and provide you with a 4-Way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights.
I have again attached installation videos to assist.
Then for a backup camera I really like the Hopkins Smart Hitch # HM50002 because of its simple installation and helpful color-coded grid lines on the monitor that tell you exactly how far away you are from objects when backing up. The attached video demonstration will give you a good idea as to how everything installs and operates.
