I spoke to my contact at Lippert and they seem to think there is an issue with power either reaching the touch pad or control box. The first thing you will need to do is obtain a multimeter like part # ALL648349 and test the power wire just before the touch pad. If you are getting a full 12 volts then the touch pad might need replaced, part LC421484.
If the touchpad is not receiving a full 12 volts then you will need test for power leaving the control panel. If there is 12 volts leaving the control panel then you know there is a short in the wiring harness between the touch pad and control panel. If there is not 12 volts leaving the control panel then you will need to test just before power goes into the control panel. If there is 12 volts then the control panel will need to be replaced, part # LC304136.
If there is not 12 volts entering the control panel then you have a short and it will need to be traced back to the power souce.
