Question:
I have a 2014 Itasca Cambria Class C, 29.5 ft, Motor home with the F450 Super Duty chassis with the 10 cylinder Trition Engine. I am wanting to Flat tow a 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk with a 9-Speed Transmission with Jeep Active Drive II, Is this the proper transfer case that can be put into neutral and Is my Motor home enough to pull this jeep down the road at a reasonable speed? I think the jeeps curb weight is @ 4080 lbs. I am thinking about beefing up the front and rear sway bars. Any comments or suggestions. special wiring harnesses, tow bars, sway bars, etc. Thanks,

The Jeep Active Drive II is the correct 4WD transfer case to allow your 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk to be flat towed as it has a neutral setting that is used for flat towing. There are no speed restrictions I was able to find for your vehicle either. Your 2014 Itasca Cambria Class C would have no problem flat towing this vehicle too.
For sway bars you'd want the part # RM-1139-147 for the rear bar, and part # RM-1139-176 for the front. This will make a huge difference in the handling and ride quality of the motorhome.
First you'd need to start with a base plate kit for your 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. For that the Roadmaster Kit part # RM-521446-4 would be a great option. I attached an install video for this for you to check out as well.
In addition to the base plates, you will also need a compatible tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking to flat tow your vehicle. The most popular compatible tow bar is the Falcon 2, # RM-520. For safety cables you can use # RM-643. The coiled design helps keep the cables off of the ground.
For lighting you can use the diode kit, # RM-15267, and not have to worry about cutting into the taillight housing. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.
And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. Or if you prefer a permanent install option we have the SMI DUO kit part # SM99251 which I attached an install video for as well.
Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry.
I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.
