I need to replace the door lock and handle unit on my tack/dressing room door.

I am not sure exactly what hand and lock you have on your Featherlite 8549 Horse Trailer but it looks like you may have a Global Links latch kit like part # 295-000019.

Attached is a diagram of the mounting hole locations for this specific latch kit. Your cutout needs to be 2-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall to 3" wide x 4" tall and your door within 1-1/4" - 1-1/2" thick for this to fit.
