Question:
The adapter hole for a hitch pin is 1/2inch on this but a 2inch receiver hole is 5/8. When using the adapter would you have to nut and bolt it to the hitch or use a 1/2inch pin? I would think using the pin would allow it to rattle. Thanks

When using the Replacement 2" Hitch Adapter part # 853-7489 you will need to use a 12mm hitch bolt such as the Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock part # THSTL2 or the Replacement Threaded Pin for Thule Snug Tite Hitch Lock part # 853-5917. You will also need the Replacement M6 x 16mm Flat Cap Screw part # 853-5787-02 to secure the Replacement 2" Hitch Adapter to the shank of the bike rack.
There will not be any movement or rattle when using the 12mm hitch bolt with a 2" receiver tube which has a 5/8" hitch pin holes because the 12mm hitch bolt threads into the shank and then holds that against the receiver tube on the trailer hitch. The 5/8" bolt which is originally designed for 2" receiver tube would not work with the above adapter as the shank in the bike rack is only designed to accept a 12mm bolt.
If you take a look at the 4:15 mark in the attach video you can see how the 12mm bolt secures to the receiver tube.
