Will Adding a Motorcycle Carrier to a Trailer Change Tongue Weight
Published 08/29/2018 >
Question:
Hi, I read the question and etrailers answer, my question has to do more with what the additional weight say an additional 350 lbs of the carrier plus the scooters combined weight hanging on to the very rear end of the trailer will do to the equilibrium of the trailer from the rear to the coupler on the front. I have a weight distributing/stabilyzer attachment, so Im wondering if that would need to be re-adjusted and re-balanced after the weight is added to the back.

Adding a motorcycle and motorcycle carrier to the rear of a trailer will more than likely decrease the tongue weight of the trailer which means the weight distribution system would need to be adjusted or if the change is drastic, replaced with a different unit.
I recommend placing the motorcycle and carrier on the trailer like how you will be using it and then weigh the tongue weight of the trailer. If the tongue weight of the trailer plus the weight of any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle is still within the range of your weight distribution system, then all you will need to do is readjust the head/spring bars.
If you can let me know which weight distribution system you have, I would be happy to let you know what those adjustments are if you are not familiar.
