Published 08/14/2018 >
Question:
I have a 2015 GMC 2500 duramax with factory tow package. When I apply the manual brake controller , the trailer brakes work fine...but when I apply the truck foot brake there is no power going to the trailer brakes. I appreciate your help Thanks

I recommend using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check the red wire on your brake controller to ensure you are getting power from your brake light switch to your controller. If you are getting power, then you will want to check the adjustment settings on your controller. If you are testing your controller when your vehicle is stopped, you will not get a reading from the brake pedal because it is a proportional controller and no trailer braking is needed if you are not moving. The manual override working shows the brake output wire is good.
