Trailers Right Tail Light Stays on Even While Unplugged

Question:
I read the comments about how to troubleshoot how the right tail lights stay on even while unplugged. The plug has been tested no problems and the wiring to the RV battery is correct. Most of the wiring is within the frame, how should be proceed to solve the problem?

The most likely scenario that would lead to your right tail light staying on even after it is unplugged is that somewhere along the wires running through your trailer, there is an inadvertent bare connection between your right tail light wire and the power wire that connects to the battery.
There could also be a few loose strands in the trailer connector or junction box (if you have one) that is allowing the circuits to touch. Another thing that we have seen is if the power wire is shorting to the trailer frame and the right tail light wire is shorting to the frame as well, this can cause the light to stay on.
Since you have checked the plug and the wiring to the battery and they appear to be correct, the next step will be to simply inspect the wires that are within the frame of your trailer. You can start at your right tail light and use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find the brake and turn signal wire. Then just follow this wire toward the front of your trailer and look for any damaged or frayed spots that may be connecting to the power wire where possible.
If you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself, I recommend taking it to a local shop to see if they can help.
