Can this carrier be used on a 1 1/4 inch receiver? My vehicle is a 2009 Saab 9-3 sedan, regular. No Sport Combi or Aero. I am looking into hitches and the only thing I find is a unit for 1 1/4. Can I use an adapter to fit this carrier on a hitch rated and sized at 1 1/4?

For a vehicle like your 2009 Saab 9-3 sedan that only has 1-1/4 inch hitches like the # C11326 available you will have to go with a 1-1/4 inch compatible carrier instead of the # C18100 which only fits 2 inch hitches.
The Curt part # C18110 would be a great option confirmed to fit.
