Installing Prodigy P3 Brake Controller on 2011 GMC Sierra
Updated 07/16/2018 | Published 07/13/2018 >
Question:
The Tekonsha P3 controller I bought didnt didnt come with a wiring diagram, so before connecting wires, I wanted to confirm the color codes of the wires coming off the brake controller and what color wires they connect to on the truck. Was hoping to buy controller to truck harness, but no one offers one. I would hope they are all the same across the years on the GMC trucks, and from what I have read, the wiring is tucked under the dash on my truck next to the steering column. Any help would be appreciated.

The wires to install the Prodigy P3 # 90195 are indeed already run and under your dash. I have added a link to an installation video showing exactly how to install this brake controller in a 2011 GMC Sierra like yours. On the Prodigy the blue wire is for the brake wire, the black is for the 12 volt hot lead, the red is for the cold side of the stop light switch and the white is the ground wire. Following the video and the help article I added on installing brake controllers will offer you the precise way to go about installation.
