Recommended Brake Controller and Wiring Harness to Replace a Factory Controller in a 2024 Silverado
Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 12/21/2025 >
Question:
I have a 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD with integrated trailer brake. The trailer brake module has went out and does not work. The GM bulletin proves this is a valid issue with GMC and Chevy Will an aftermarket brake controller bypass the integrated controller and allow my electric brakes to work? Thanks!

It sure will Trey. Installing an aftermarket brake controller like the Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness item # TK52HR is going to allow you to bypass the ITB in your 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500. This kit comes with a custom harness that will plug in behind your factory controller to the factory connector. This will provide you full control of your trailer's brakes.
You mentioned the GM bulletin, did you do the recall GM offered on those factory controllers?
