I would like your recommendation on a 2” trailer hitch on the newer model 2016 xc90. Thank you.

Between the Curt # C53HR and the Curt # C13233 for your 2016 Volvo XC90 I recommend going with the # C53HR.

Both trailer hitch options have a high difficulty rating for the installation, the same 6,000 lb towing and 900 lb tongue weight ratings, and the Curt # C13233 requires the use of a stabilizer strap like part # 18050 for all non-trailer loads like a bike rack or cargo carrier.

Another positive of the # C53HR is that it is designed so that only the receiver is visible. Curt has rated this a 10 out of 10 for difficulty so if you aren't very familiar with working on vehicles, I recommend taking it to a local shop that you trust for the installation.
