Question:

Hey guys, I have an oldinch Yakima Rocketbox - Im thinking vintage 2000 or earlier. Ive lost a few pieces of the mounting hardware over the years. Each of the four bracket locations has two holes that are spaced 4inch apart. Ive been searching around your site, and the kit that looks closest to what came with the box is Y8770018. I have the same combination of T-shaped bolts and standard bolts, the plastic brackets that fit under the crossbars look just like the ones I have now. I found a picture at the link below, but it doesnt look like you have it in stock. Do you plan to get it back in stock, or is there an another kit that I could use? Im attaching the box to raised tubular crossbars installed aftermarket on an Acura RDX. Thanks

There may be a solution for you though hardware Y8770018 has been discontinued; it was a fit for Rocketboxes manufactured between 2004 and 2008 so would not have been a match for your earlier version. Unfortunately there is no hardware available for such a well-aged cargo box and Yakima does not recommend drilling holes so other hardware can fit.

That being said, the Replacement Hardware Kit for Searsbox Cargo Box # TH05603 does have u-bolts that are 4-3/16" apart on center (see accompanying photo) and this might be able to work for you. Just keep in mind that manufacturers do not test their hardware on each other's products and this hardware was not designed to fit your Rocketbox so I would not be able to guarantee it will work.

Your best option truly is going to be a new cargo box, or a rooftop basket and roof top cargo bag. Either way, I'd be happy to help if you would like to get a different set up; I'd just need to know what crossbars you have, either a model number or width and length.
