How does one secure the bike to the rack?

Since the Swagman ST-Two S80200 does not come with cradles you need to secure your bikes to the rack with bungee cords like the Erickson # EM06623 or any other secure tie-down method you are comfortable with.

However, I highly recommend going with a 3-bike trunk mount rack that does have cradles to secure your bikes and ensure they don't make contact with your 2018 Kia Optima or each other. The Yakima HangOut # Y02638 is a confirmed fit for a '18 Optima and uses StableCradle anti-sway cradles with ChainStraps to prevent contact.

Additionally, please note that when using any hanging rack you'll need bike frame adapter bar # 64005 if your bike is dual-suspension, has a step-through frame or you want to carry a small children's bike. The bar will give those bikes a horizontal mounting point so they can be carried by the rack.
