Question:

I am looking for a ball that I can use to tow a boat and a trailor. I have a Secoua, Toyota. I have the hitch but need the balls and the part that goes in the hitch. Please advice. Thank you.

In order to choose the correct ball mount for your particular setup, you will just want to take a quick measurement on both your Toyota Sequoia and your boat trailer. Starting with your vehicle parked on level ground, take a measurement from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver. Then on the trailer, measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the measurement on the trailer is greater, you will need a ball mount with a rise. If the measurement you took on the Sequoia is higher, you will need one with a drop. You will simply choose a ball mount that features a rise or drop measurement that matches the difference between the two measurements you took.

For example, the Curt Ball Mount # D-4 features a rise of 3/4 inches or a drop of 2 inches. It is designed to fit 2 inch trailer hitch receivers. Then, the hitch ball size you need will depend on what the coupler on your boat trailer will work with. This information is typically stamped right onto the coupler itself. For a 2 inch hitch ball that will work with this ball mount, you can use # 63845 and for a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use # 19260.

In addition to a ball mount and hitch ball, you will also need a trailer wiring harness on your vehicle if you do not already have one. This is needed to connect with the trailer and activate its signal lights for towing. If you can tell me what model year Sequoia you have, I will be happy to recommend the correct harness.
