The 2018 Toyota 4Runner comes with a 2 inch hitch receiver that is commonly referred to as a Class III hitch. There are ball mounts that will allow for a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball that will fit your trailer hitch receiver.
For the most adjustable option, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 3-Ball Mount # BWTS10048B which will give you the 3 standard hitch ball sizes and give you the ability to adjust vertically for your trailer coupler height to tow level. It also has a nice stowable feature when not in use to protect your shins. You can use a hitch pin lock like # e98882 to secure your investment.
If you want a more economical option, I recommend the Curt Class III Ball Mount with 1-7/8" Ball - 2" Drop # C45034 or # C45055 with a 4 inch drop. Both of these a fixed height mount options. If you want the 3 hitch ball option in the fixed mount, I recommend the Curt # C45001.
