Question:
Hi I have a 2012 F150 and I am towing a 5x8foot vee nose enclosed utility trailer. The tongue is quite short on this trailer and I am having clearance issues with the tailgate and the tongue jack on the trailer also its very close to my truck and I was wondering if the 13inch extra long ball mount is a viable option for my problem? How would I address the issue with the safety chains on the trailer as they would be way too short if I go this route?

Going with a longer ball mount like the Curt Class III part # C45270 which is 13 inches long will increase the clearance between the tailgate and your trailer jack. In most cases safety chains have enough extra length that it's not an issue but if you need longer safety chains we have the Curt chain part # C80031 which is 47 inches long and has a 5,000 lb capacity.
For a weld on loop to install it we have the part # E950.
