The PL error code on the Primus brake controller, # TK90160, indicates that power is interrupted when stepping on the brake pedal. Check the connection of the red wire. It should be attached to the brake switch wire that has power only when the brake pedal is pressed. If it has power at any other time then it is not the correct wire.
A bad splice or corrosion could cause this error. Then check the wiring going back to the trailer connector for any corrosion or breaks in the wiring and check the trailer connectors on the pin and behind where the wires attach for corrosion and dirt.
On the trailer side, do the same with the connector and wiring. Make sure all grounds are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. You can also test the brake magnets using the FAQ I have linked for you
I have also included some links to testing and troubleshooting brake controllers that should also help.
