How to Add Side Marker Lights to a Boat Trailer with Combined Wiring System
Updated 06/01/2018 | Published 05/30/2018 >
Question:
I have a large boat trailer with the 7 way connecter. I am wanting to add signal and marker lights on the sides. I understand I need an adapter to separate brake and signals but unsure of which one I need as I have the 7 way connect not the 4 wire. Will my existing trail brake/signal lights be affected if I use the adapter to add more signals and marker lights to the trailer? Thanks

If you are wanting to add both clearance and side marker lights to your boat trailer then you are indeed going to need to separate the combined brake and turn signals on your trailer. In order to do this I recommend using the Tail Light Converter part # C56196. This will allow you to separate the brake and turn signals from the 7-way trailer connector so you can send just turn signals to the side marker lights.
Please keep in mind that in addition to adding side marker and clearance lights, you will also need to switch to a taillight that has separate brake and turn signals. I have attached list of our trailer lights which you can browse through to find what you need.
