Question:

I was sold the e2 round bar with 1000 tw when i bought my trailer. Dry weight of trailer is 4700. Question is, is 1000 overkill or should i step down to 800 or 600

Spring bars that are rated up to 1,000 pounds might sound too high for a 4,700 pound trailer but you need to keep in mind that's the trailer's dry weight. A weight distribution system needs to be rated based on the trailer when it's loaded to work properly. So I recommend loading your trailer like it will be when you're towing and then finding out its tongue weight. In addition, any weight behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle acts as tongue weight for a weight distribution system. So you need to add this weight to the trailer's loaded tongue weight. Once you have this figured out you can determine if the 1,000 pound Fastway e2, part # FA94-00-1061, is correct for you. You want the number you came up with to fall in the middle of the a system's range and your system is rated from 600 to 1,000 pounds.

If the number you came up with is towards the bottom of that range you should replace the bars. Use the 800 pound bars, part # FA94-02-0899, if your figure is between 400 and 800 pounds. Or use the 600 pound bars, part # FA94-02-0699, if it falls between 400 to 600 pounds.

Or if you prefer, let me know what figure you came up with and I'll make a more specific recommendation. Especially since there is some overlap in the ranges.
