Should Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # 362SA6 Install to Sheet Metal Above Enclosed Trailer Ramp
Updated 05/02/2018 | Published 05/01/2018 >
Question:
Im interested in your item 362SA6 for my enclosed trailer with a -down rear door. However, I have only sheet steel above the door, and to attach the brackets, I would have to drill through the steel to the outside for bolts and nuts. Should I make some modification so I dont have to do it this way? Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Enclosed Trailer Ramp Spring # 362SA6 that you referenced does require a very solid mounting point for installation. If that means you have to drill through the steel of your trailer above the ramp then that would be the best way to do it. You do need support at the bracket locations for the spring to lift the weight it is designed for.
The installation instructions for this product are recommended for individuals who have experience winding torsion springs. If you have not worked with a torsion spring system before, we recommend contacting a local garage door company to install this system.
