Question:
Hello, I have a Jeep that I use to pull my 5x10ft utility trailer. I have lifted it and now I need a drop hitch. I have a 10-inch hitch and it nowhere near the amount of I need. I think a 15-inch would be close to what I need and was looking at Curt Weight Distribution Shank - 12inch Long - 15-3/4inch or 13-3/4inch - 1,500 lbs TW Item # C17125. Not really sure because it says 15 3/4 or 16 1/4 . And Im not sure of the part I would need to attach my 2-inch ball. Any help with this would be nice, and as cheap as possible as Its not pulled very often Thant You Randal Keller [email protected]

That's quite a bit of drop. Before guessing that you need 15 inches of drop you can measure to determine exactly what you need. I've linked a help article about finding the correct rise or drop. Basically you need to measure on level ground to the inside top of your Jeep's hitch receiver opening. Then measure from level ground to the underside of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two. This number is the amount of drop (Or rise technically but in your case it's clearly drop) you need.
The Curt shank, part # C17125, you looked at is not what you need unless you're towing with a weight distribution system. It's specifically for weight distribution and doesn't include anyway to install a hitch ball.
If you're right about the 15 inches then I recommend the Gen-Y adjustable ball mount, part # 325-GH-317. It's way more than what you need in capacity because it's a heavy duty ball mount. It includes both a 2 and a 2-5/16 inch hitch balls.
I've also linked our complete selection of ball mounts that fit a 2 inch hitch receiver. Use the facets to find the amount of drop you need once you've measured on your Jeep and trailer if the 15 inches turns out not to be correct. Or reply back to me and let me know what the measurement is and I'll make a different recommendation.
