Will the this cover Maxxair II fit the mounting tabs on the Maxxfan 4500 std tabs?

Yes, the MaxxAir II RV and Enclosed Trailer Roof Vent Cover # MA86JR can use the same mounting holes as a MaxxAir standard roof vent cover. In fact it will fit most 14 x 14-inch vents.

We have a Maxxair 4000 series vent with rain sensor. Id like to add a vent cover. The FanMate vent cover would be the easiest install with just the EZ Clips but Id prefer the Maxxair II cover for several reasons. What is involved in this installation? Would I have to use the hardware brackets as though I were installing this cover on a different brand cover?

The Maxxair II # MA00-933075 would work really well with your 4000 Series Vent. Install is more than just a few clips but it's also not terribly difficult. You'll need to drill 4 holes into the vertical frame of the vent so that you can mount the hinged brackets. Once it's in place you'll use the included hardware to install the cover.
