Question:

as i see it the demco 6206 plate adapter has only one hard fastening point. in the event of severe bounce is it possible that the adapter plate could come out of the center fastening point? i am sure i am missing somthing but tightening one small machine screw to keep 17, 500 pounds of trailer in place seems a little quirky. thanks

The Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package - 8' Bed # DM6206 is secured in place by the gooseneck hitch lock position as you stated. The 4 other corners of the adapter also help hold the adapter in position and have 2 different shapes. These don't lock, but do keep those 4 corners tight. The hitch ball style lock in the center secures the adapter to your Chevy Factory system and will provide the strength needed to tow a trailer rated at up to 21,000 lbs without any issues. The small machine screw basically engages the balls on the gooseneck lock to engage and lock the system. This is the same lock used on hitch balls that tow up to 30,000 lbs using # C60692.

That factory rail kit is integrated into the frame so that adapter is not going anywhere. You can utilize any 5th wheel hitch that is rated for the towing capacity you need, but the adapter will limit you to 21,000 lbs. The same is true of the short bed adapter option # DM6194.
