Will the Curt C17100 shank work with an Equalizer 90001000 sway/weight distribution hitch? I have a 2004 F150 XLT with a 5.4L. I am pulling a 23foot TT at about 5000 pounds.. The hitch is a bit overkill for the rig but I bought for the future...eventually a newer truck and larger TT.

The Curt Adjustable Weight Distribution Shank # C17100 will work with the # EQ37101ET which is the 90001000 system you referenced. That system is recommended for total tongue weights between 600 and 1000 lbs. That total tongue weight includes the loaded tongue weight as well as any weight behind the rear axle of your truck.
If your total tongue weight is lighter than this with your current trailer, it will create a rough ride and you will want a different system.
This system does come with a hitch ball, however you will need a thin walled socket like # ALL643216 or # EQ70-00-4800 to install it.
