Weight Distribution System Recommendation for a 2011 GMC Sierra 2500HD and Jayco Eagle Trailer

Question:
I have a 2011 GMC 2500 HD truck with both 2 and 2 1/5 receiver currently using the 2 sleeve and max tow weight of 13,000 lbs. The truck has integrated sway control so I shouldnt need any sway control. Im towing a 97 35 Jayco Eagle with a UVWR of 10,200 lbs. Not sure of the TW but the tongue beam is 2 wide and 6 tall. Will this product work? Im new to these things and want to know where does the ball for the trailer go? Does it go in the hole at the back of the shank? If so Ill need a new 2 5/16 ball right? I am using a switchable 3 ball size hitch now.

When choosing a weight distribution system, you will need one that has a tongue weight capacity range that encompasses the trailer tongue weight when loaded and ready to tow. Anything loaded in the tow vehicle that is behind the rear axle will also count towards tongue weight.
Tongue weight is usually between 10 and 15 percent of the gross trailer weight, loaded and ready to tow. With an unloaded weight of 10,200 pounds, that would be between 1,020 pounds and 1,530 pounds. Our heaviest systems are rated for 1,000 to 1,700 pounds and would require the use of the 2-1/2 inch receiver.
If your tongue weight ends up exceeding 1,700 pounds, do not use the system for safety.
If your loaded and ready to tow tongue weight is under 1,700 pounds, I recommend the Titan Weight Distribution System, # RP66006. You will also need a shank, # RP54977, and a ball, # 63840. I have included a link to the installation details for you to view.
The ball will go in the head unit of the weight distribution system. The head attaches to the shank. The other end of the shank fits in the trailer hitch receiver. I have included a link to our FAQ article on Weight Distribution for you to view.
