Do the Brackets for the Curt TruTrack # C17500 Have to be Installed Exaclty 4" From the End of Bars

Question:

I bought a curt trutrack 17500 hitch and it says to put the a-frame bracket 4 inches from the end of bar i. The frame where my battery sits gets in the way. Can I put a-frame bracket 5 inches from the end of bar instead of 4 inches.

I spoke with my contact at Curt who said that you can actually install the brackets from the TruTrack # C17500 4" - 7" from the end of the bar.

What you are wanting to do is perfectly fine.

@JonG can I go 8.5 inches due to battery tray and giggy box in the way, or what problem would I encounter? I use the hitch more for anti sway than WD.

@KevinM You can, but it means the arms could slip out of the brackets when you have a sharper turn. Do you have this exact WD or do you have a different setup?

@JonG The brackets right now are 8 1/4 from the back of the spring bar, meaning the bracket is closer to the center of the bar. I did see in a video they can be up to 8 in from the back end of the bar.
