The wheel trays can slide to your narrower wheelbase easily and the wheel trays are designed to accomodate taller and wider wheel setups like what you can see in the picture I attached. I also attached an install video for this rack for you to check out as well. You'll want a 2 inch hitch installed on your 2018 Subaru Forester like the Draw Tite part # 75876 installed as well.
