Electric Over Hydraulic Actuator Recommendation for Converting from Surge Brakes
Published 02/21/2018 >
Question:
I am considering converting my boat trailer to an electric over hydraulic setup. Currently, I have the UFP A160 coupler / surge brake system. Do you have a replacement coupler that could slide into the UFP outer assembly using the existing pin holes, or would you recommend welding the existing inner assembly together so it doesnt slide in and out? The outer assembly is actually part of my trailer, so could not be unbolted and replaced with a different style coupler. Thanks!

Locking out your UFP A160 by welding the two pieces is one way to convert to an electric over hydraulic actuator. This way you don't have to replace the coupler.
Nothing we offer will fit in that housing but we do have great options.
For a kit that includes everything you'd need you'd want the part # HS381-9067. This is the actuator plus all of the wiring needed. The Hydrastar kits like this are our installers favorite as they perform the best and are the most reliable.
